My background is in dance and I spent an immense part of my college career studying dance and human movement. Each muscle, joint, ligament, even cell in our body has a function and when one of those functions gets out of balance for what ever reason it reeks havoc on our whole system. My goal is to help guide people to find a place of better balance within their body. After that everything else just seems to fall in line, i.e., the toned muscles and all that jazz.
The system that I have found to work best to deliver this state of balance is Gyrotonic. Gyrotonic is a system of exercise that gently moves, undulates and pulsates the body into a place of well-being and harmony. It can be practiced on the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower or simply on a stool and mat - called Gyrokinesis. The movements are circular, smooth and comfortably take the body to places it may not often go in order to encourage improved range-of-motion and deep inner strength and awareness.
The ultimate goal of Gyrotonic is to feel at home in your body. As youngsters we take that for granted, but as we age we start to notice changes. At first the changes may be small but left ignored they become more prominent. We can accept those changes or we can reeducate the body to find more efficient movement patterns and recapture that feeling of youth. What's important to remember is a body in balance is not just an appearance - it's to be able to move, play, breath, and live in complete harmony with nature and with one another.
